National Trails Day: Monksville Reservoir Overlooks and Trail Kiosks Hike

Registration is closed for this event
Signage takes guesswork out of your trail experience. New signage has been developed to help improve your trail experience.

Over the past several years the Trail Conference has worked closely with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection to provide quality trailhead signage, and over 300 sign panels have been delivered to different state parks across northern New Jersey.

KIOSK SIGNAGE PROJECT TALK: Join us to take a detailed view of the newly installed kiosk at the Long Pond-Horse Pond Mountain trailhead in West Milford, where the signage project can be seen and felt throughout the town. Local leaders will be onsite to discuss the impact this project has had on it's community and eco-tourist who come to recreate on the towns extensive trail network.

HIKE: Following our overview of the kiosk signage project, optional point-to-point hike will commence. Hikers will car shuttle (~1.5-mi) to Burnt Meadow Trail parking area and kiosk to start their 3-mile hike enjoying spectacular overlooks of Monskville Reservoir. Hike is short but the trails are rocky and there are two significant climbs along the way. Hike will conclude at first kiosk location.
