Join the East Hudson Trail Crew in Hudson Highlands State Park!

Carriage Connector Trail in Hudson Highlands State Park Preserve - 5/13

Meeting Place:  An unmarked pull-off on route 403 (across from Osborne Drive) in Garrison that provides access to an unmarked woods road (41.3583, -73.9259).
What:  Turnpiking and improving drainage on a wet section of the Carriage Connector near its intersection with the AT, where a stream flows on the trail for about 65’.
Tools:  Mainly pick mattocks, crush hammers, shovel, buckets, etc.. Safety glasses are a must when making crush.  I have tools and safety glasses to share with people who need them.
The hike to the work site: about 1 mile.

  • Bring water, lunch, work gloves, and wear long pants.
  • Safety glasses and hard hats are required. If you do not have your own, they will be provided and it is required that they be worn. 
  • We offer on-the-job training with experienced leaders. 

Prior to your first workday, please complete the Volunteer Service Agreement:

  • For 'Location/Facility' use Taconic Region
  • For 'Description of Volunteer Service' use Trail Crew
  • Submit electronically or fill and email to [email protected]
  • For volunteers under age 18, please submit a Guardian Consent form to [email protected] prior to the volunteer day or bring the paper form the day of.
    • A parent or guardian must be present for the volunteer day.
