The February meeting of the Bergen-Passaic chapter of the Native Plant Society of NJ (NPSNJ) will take place at Trail Conference headquarters on Wednesday, February 8, at 7:30 p.m. The speaker will be Steven Yergeau, Ph.D., Environmental & Resource Management Agent for Ocean and Atlantic counties.  Dr. Yergeau, will discuss "Native Landscaping," focusing on the benefits to homeowners of using native plants and demonstrating a native plant database to help homeowners design their own native landscapes. Arrive at 7:00 for a tour of the historic Darlington Schoolhouse conducted by Trail Conference staff, including the geothermal plant.

The meeting is open to members and non-members of NPSNJ and will include discussion of upcoming events of interest to native plant enthusiasts.

The parking lot at Trail Conference headquarters is small, and overflow parking is next door at the Ramapo County Reservation with a short walk through the woods on a trail to the parking lot. This parking and trail are NOT lighted, so attendees should bring a flashlight, carpool, or arrive early to park near the building. In case of snow, both lots will be plowed, but the trail between them will not be cleared.
