New Business:
Invite someone to next status meeting?
Walt, Georgette, Ann, Ed, (Josh Howard)
Old Business:
1.Agenda modifications
2. Subteam status reports
* Business model (Ed)
- Action: Ed to contact Google re grants -- have heard nothing re our proposal
- SSL certificates need renewal -- for 2009, Walt recommends getting second certificate or multidomain --approx $180. Action: Ed to respond to email from Walt with approval to buy.
- Also Trellon wants final 10% but we aren't signed off yet. Ann to contact Alonza re outstanding work.
- Re block of support from Trellon so that they could help us get more done quicker? ... Walt to draft list; Ann/Ed to approach Trellon for work as part of strategy discussion. Ann to set up strategy conversation.
* Content (Georgette)
- Doug -- has images for us to process
- Gayle -- Fahnestock, Hudson Highlands -- can do NYC next
- Phil -- Catskills -- one park? or parts? Which parts? Wilderness units and Wild Forest units? Decision: Do as one park
- Catherine -- finishing up volunteer forms; will present to committee Thursday; wants to attempt to create them herself, with Walt's help
- Member clubs list -- Cal to update. To be done by 2/24. (not a database at present) Apply for membership form is in database but still needs theming (Action: add to todo list). Issue: process is two-step now; renewal differs from join. Action: add to phase II requirements (Ann)
- Add action items to track completion of parks and hikes; map; photo (Ann)
- What to do about Inside the TC line item on left -- change to My Groups. Also replace block at top to block at bottom in left (Login/My Groups/Contact Us/Site User Guide).
- Can we improve way Google map zooms so it doesn't start in Africa? Walt to investigate. Action: Add in maps as phase IA-like activity. Need tutorial on how to do & train content volunteers.
- Action: Walt to move directions next to map in database for ease of editing.
* Technology (Walt)
- We are on the new server except for mailing lists. (From Dreamhost and OpenSource Hosting) -- hopefully today or tomorrow.
- Resource space (photos) still to move across. Still unresolved -- photo credits question. Walt needs to copy Doug's photos into the right places. Georgette to get back to Doug on what will be done.
- Need to do more Web forms, theming (e.g. register)
- Backup not done yet for logical backup -- Walt addressing.
- Action: Walt to add link to books somewhere.
3. Web redesign status
a. Trellon
* Deliverables outstanding ... are we done? -- Not quite.
* Do we want to purchase a hunk of support/development time? -- See above.
b. Specific action items requiring discussion. See http://new.nynjtc.net/meeting/actions
4. Review site with Josh Howard with focus on Join/Renew/Donate and Store (2:45 - 3:15)
- Join/Renew -- motivational info missing still. Lou Leonardis has handout for new member packets --
- Branding: use Trail Conference after using New York - New Jersey Trail Conference once. Action: Fix usage on site.
- Get rid of + signs. Trellon still hasn't done that. (Ann to bug Alonza.) Also, get rid of .00 from values.
- Need the page that's motivation and way to get to it, On Get Involved page, move Support Trails to top.
- Get Involved -- needs membership items on drop down. Page will have case/benefits.
Include link to case/benefits on fast path pages. Same approach on Donate page.
Time frame: by end of month. - Partners: show logos and link to their sites. Renewal form explains what a partner is.
- Action: We need to review all tabs to make sure common fast paths are represented in drop downs. (Walt, Georgette to do?)
Discussion of 10% discount. Josh opposes it. Walt feels it helps build contact list. Input from Membership & Development committee needed? Ed says no. Ask Doug to describe rationale for 10% discount for registered users. Today -- if purchase from us, in db as prospect; automatically get e-walker but can unsubscribe.
(Action: ANN)
5. Review launch plan and set goals for next week. See http://new.nynjtc.net/book/nynjtc-web-site-launch-plan
- Target: Public announcement March 1.
New Business:
- Invite someone to next status meeting? Invite regional reps to discuss posting information on the new Web site -- trail news, advocacy alerts, etc.
- Status of member organizations -- need to validate info in database. Walt notes that "Find active" button on old site is broken.
- Need process for getting email addresses from new site to ebase. (Action item)
- Note that in Drupal, registered users cannot unregister themselves.
Next meeting is Jan. 12.
