Voorhees State Park
Park Overview:
Multi-use trials that range from wide and graveled to rocky and steep; scenic overviews of two major reservoirs.
Park Description:
Situated in the rolling hills of Hunterdon County, Voorhees State Park was the home of Foster M. Voorhees, a former governor of New Jersey. He donated his farm to become a state park in 1929, and during the 1930s the Civilian Conservation Corps [CCC] developed the Park's picnic sites, parking areas, roads, and trails. It has year-round camping facilities and an observatory for night sky watching.
Trails Overview:
Voorhees has a network of 10 trails, totaling nearly 10 miles, that meander along varying terrain through a mixed hardwood forest. All trails in the park are multi-use except the Cross Park Trail and the exercise Parcourse Circuit, which are footpaths only. The trails range from wide and graveled to rocky and steep in places; the parcourse is accessible for people with disabilities.
