About the Rockalaka Trail Crew
The Rockalaka Trail Crew will be splitting the season between restoring the Sloan Gorge Trail for the Woodstock Land Conservancy and building a scenic loop trail at the Platte Clove Preserve. If working outdoors surrounded by beautiful views, interesting geology, and the sound of rushing waterfalls sounds appealing to you, then the Rockalaka Crew wants to meet you! There are plenty of opportunities for you to get out there and have some fun on the trails with us!
Work trips are led by the Trail Conference's on-staff field manager and Conservation Corps members.
The project involves a variety of tasks, such as:
- Opening trail coorridors
- Trail tread construction focused on sidehilling and some rock work
- Erosion mitigation and drainage
- Finishing work
Where We Work
The Rockalaka Trail Crew will be working in the Catskills—at the Platte Clove Preserve in Elka Park, and at Sloan Gorge in Woodstock. Come out and learn the art of trail building while surrounded by the beauty of the Catskill mountains.
