About the Crew

The Taconic Trail Crew constructs new trails and rehabilitates eroded and damaged trails. This year, a major part of our work will involve rehabilitation of the Wilkinson Memorial Trail in Hudson Highlands State Park.

If you enjoy working outdoors and want to learn more about how sustainable trails are built, the Taconic Crew wants to meet you. The team will be hard at work each weekend, so there are plenty of opportunities for you to get out there and have some fun on the trail with us!

Work trips are led by Trail Conference's on-staff field manager and Conservation Corps members. The projects involves a variety of tasks, such as:

  • Sidehilling
  • Quarrying stone
  • Creating crushed stone (with mash and sledge hammers)
  • Building crib walls
  • Setting rock steps
  • Reestablishing vegetation

Where We Work

Volunteer in the beautiful Hudson Highlands with the Taconic Crew to build and repair trails in the area around the popular Breakneck Ridge. Close proximity to the towns of Cold Spring and Beacon allow for opportunities to make this a multi-activity adventure!
